Metropolitan Museum Of Art Review

6 Dec

I remember visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art with my mom when I was in elementary school and later on in college. I must have written at least eight papers for my art appreciation classes so I have a pretty good insight to the different techniques, artists and time periods. Actually,  the love of art is something that runs deep in my family. My mom, three siblings and I all have taken to drawing, painting and sculpting at some point. Now that I have a daughter I see that she’s artistic as well which is why I couldn’t wait for her to be old enough to appreciate this particular museum.

Metropolitan Museum of Art Review

There are many reasons why the Metropolitan Museum of Art is one of the greatest museums of the world.

  •  The Metropolitan Museum of Art has something for everyone. Whether you’re into Greek sculptures, Impressionistic paintings, medieval paintings or Egyptian vases you’ll find them all here.
  • Although the Met has a base showing, they always have one or two additional exhibits as well so even if you’re a regular visitor there’s always something new to see.

  • The Met is home to some of the most renown artists in the world including Claude Monet, Piere Auguste Cot, Vincent Van Gogh, Gustave Moreau, Francois Boucher, Georgia O’Keffe, Rembrandt and many more.
  • Looking at all of the beautiful artworks in the Metropolitan Museum of Art is an emotional and a spiritual journey. I always feel inspired, humbled, awestruck and blissfully happy after I’ve spent a day there.

  • If you like to watch artists at work then you’re going to love watching the students who paint at the Met. If you’re planning to paint a masterpiece as well keep in mind that you have to get permission first- unless you just want to bring along a sketch pad.

  • There are plenty of stools to sit on and rest if you get tired or if you just want to focus one one piece of artwork.
  • Although the museum is huge it’s really easy to navigate. If you get lost by some chance then you can get directions from one of the guards that are standing by each and every doorway.

So if you’re wondering if the Metropolitan Museum of Art is good for kids the answer is most definitely. You’ll be amazed at how inspired the kids get from seeing the artwork that’s on display. A lot of kids also love checking out the students who are painting recreations right in the museum. If that’s not enough then there are a few other reasons that you’re kids are sure to love visiting the Met:

  • they have scavenger hunts for kids of all ages including tech ones
  • they offer art classes for kids
  • you can take your kids to story time
  • they have affordable concerts featuring classical and contemporary music
  • throughout the year the Met hosts festivals and special events
  • the Nolan library at the museum is fun for people of all ages to visit

I love spending time at the Met and recommend it to all art lovers and people who want to broaden their horizons. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is located at 1000 5th Avenue in NYC.
