Sally Hansen 18K Gold Hardener Review

I first started wearing Sally Hansen nail polish when I heard about their Hard As Nails polish. At the time I was a design major and used my nails almost as much as my hands to get the look I wanted on my projects. While the polish was fantastic, over time, I sort of strayed from it but went back to them when I learned that they’re one of the safer nail polish brands out there. The brand has many wonderful qualities that continuously draw in new customers and one of them is that they create new products to meet your needs on a regular basis. One of the new products that they just launched is their 18K Gold Hardener which they sent me to try out.

Company Description- ‘Lock in moisture and strengthen nails with real 18K gold.’

Sally Hansen 18K Gold Hardener Review

One of the reasons that I’m excited to try out the new Sally Hansen 18K Gold Hardener is because I’ve recently started a new diet. The problem is that I keep forgetting to take my vitamins and my normally healthy, long nails have become dry, brittle and a sincere pain to deal with. I swear I just look at them and they crack. The other reason that I’m excited about the hardener is – well, it’s the flecks of gold. What can I say I like anything that sparkles.

You apply the hardener as a base coat. If I’m doing my nails at home I want to be done with it quickly so I love that it dries in a minute so that I can get on with applying the other two or three coats of polish. I found that by applying this hardener two times per week my nails did get stronger, harder and longer. As long as I didn’t use my nails to open or scratch things they continued to look great.

So now you’re wondering what it is about the 18K gold that makes the polish worth trying. Besides looking pretty, it ¬†forms a protective barrier to lock in moisture which means that in time your nails will grow longer and stronger.

I mentioned earlier that Sally Hansen are known to be a healthy brand. Here are a few reasons that they have that reputation adn a few more why you should try them out:

  • They don’t test finished products or ingredients on animals, nor do they commission any third party to do so.
  • Their polishes don’t contain formaldehyde, DBP or Toluene.
  • Before they place a product on the market, they asses it to ensure it is safe for human use and for the environment.

I love the Sally Hansen 18K Gold Hardener and will purchase it in the future. If your nails are brittle I recommend it.

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers

This is something I’d been wondering about! Good to know it’s a great buy! I didn’t realize SH was cruelty free either. Thanks for the info!

I didn’t know that SH was 3-free and cruelty-free. They should promote it more! I use SH base coat, but the 18K gold hardener looks very cool

I’m glad to see Sally Hansen has gone cruelty free, though I am curious to know what they mean by not testing their finished products on animals. Does this mean they test unfinished products?

I do like the concept of this polish though. Harder nails are always a big plus.

I’m pretty sure Sally Hansen isn’t cruelty free. I used to buy them before I went cruelty free. Thanks for sharing!

What an interesting concept! I remember seeing Sephora (or was it Zoya?) gold flakie toppers, and they were pretty expensive.
