Gerard Cosmetics BB+ Illumination Review

One of the reasons that I’m a fan of BB creams is that when they work they give your skin a beautiful satiny finish. Gerard Cosmetics partnered up with Whitening Lightening and came up with a BB+ Illumination which caught my attention because I figure that by illumination they mean that your skin will get a beautiful, healthy looking glow.

Company Description- ‘BB Plus  Illumination is a versatile  and luminous product that can be used in a variety of ways. The product’s golden undertone adds dimension and a youthful glow to any complexion and is completely customizable to your lifestyle’.

Gerard Cosmetics BB+ Illumination Review

The Gerard Cosmetics BB+ Illumination is packaged in a squeezable pump which makes it easy to get every last drop out. I also like that you don’t have to put your fingers in a jar to get to the product. It’s much cleaner and healthier this way.

The instructions sat that you should ‘Apply to clean skin, over or under foundation or moisturizer’. The first time that I used it,I applied a few drops about the size of a dime onto my skin and I came out looking like the Oscar statue from the awards. I’m talking my face was covered in gold as if I had painted the product onto my skin. Now if I was watching the Oscars then I may have left it on just to get into the spirit of watching more that the gorgeous gowns going down the red carpet. However, I was actually heading to a barbecue party so I did my best to scrub it off. Unfortunately, even scrubbing didn’t get as much of it off as I wanted and someone actually asked me why I was wearing gold powder.

A hint of gold that adds a bit of shimmer to the skin is ok but this was waaaay too much so I rethought the amount that I used. The next time I tried the Gerard Cosmetics BB+ Illumination I added one drop to my moisturizer and found that while it was better it still looked too gold for me. As I mentioned before, by illumination I’m going for a healthy glow and while the description of the cream does mention that it adds gold to your skin, it adds an unnatural amount that I don’t like.

The cream itself is light and it absorbs into the skin quickly. When mixed with moisturizer I found that it didn’t make my skin feel heavy and sweaty because the combination was still very light. I don’t wear foundation so I can’t tell you how that would feel but I imagine that it would be ok.

What I do love about the BB cream is that it’s gluten free and cruelty free. There’s also a 30 day money back guarantee which is always a plus. However, after havning the experience that I did with it, I wouldn’t purchase the Gerard Cosmetics BB+ Illumination in the future.

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

I agree with Judy. I would have loved to have seen a swatch of this product. It’s so difficult to find the right foundations or BBs or CCs. Sorry this one didn’t work out for you.

Not a fan of face products with shimmer :(

This product sounds nice. I do wish to have seen what it looked like though. The hint of gold makes me slightly cringe, because I would be afraid of looking disco ball like. But it sounds like a great product.

This sounds like it would be great for a good day at the beach or maybe even a custom. All that gold glitter for everyday probably isn’t worth it.

I have seen so much fuzz regarding this product all over instagram that I’m glad to find neutral review on it that points out everything and not just a rave for how amazing it is. I was probably going to purchase it but now I don’t feel I need it, thank you for your review.
