Many ancient civilizations had the tradition taking a weekly hammam which is a luxurious bath that was vital to the well being of the people. One of these civilizations is Morocco and a company named Moroccan Hammam has embraced its traditions and bottled it. The point is to bring the experience of a nurturing, hydrating, relaxing bath to the home. This way you not only make your skin smoother but you also relax your mind and destress from the day. The people over at Moroccan Hammam sent me their kit to review and are offering a giveaway as well.

Moroccan Hammam Review
There are a few steps to the Moroccan Hammam:
- Immerse your body in warm water and apply the black soap onto your skin (but not on the face).
- After 10 to 15 minutes rinse and then exfoliate your skin with the wet kessa glove.
- Next apply a layer of the rassoul onto your skin (you can use it in your hair too if you like).
- Rinse after 10 minutes.
- Finally pat your skin dry and apply the argan oil
The black soap is very thick so it’s very easy to scoop out of the jar.In fact, it’s almost like holding a tiny bar of soap and it’s just as easy to rub onto the skin. Now I have to warn you that the Moroccan Hammam black soap does not smell pretty however, neither does the soap and mud that they make from Dead Sea mud. The fragrance is a result of all of the natural vitamins and minerals in the product and since they’re essential to the skin then I for one am willing to deal with it. The soap is easy to rinse away and doesn’t leave behind and residue or fragrance.
The kessa glove reminds me of a softer version of the one my grandmother had hanging in the shower when I was a little girl.Unlike my grandmother’s hanging loofah however, this one is a bright orange color and fits on your hand like a glove. It was very gentle yet effective at getting rid of my dead skin cells. Although it took me a couple of minutes to get to everything there was no irritation or scratches when I was done. My skin actually felt incredibly smooth making it worth the time and effort.
The rassoi is also thick in texture. Although it can be used on the hair as well as the body I only used it on my body. This product has great degreasing and softening properties and is an added bonus to the prior steps because it leaves the skin feeling smooth. I like the eucalyptus scent that it has and find it to be incredibly soothing. However, ifyou’re not a fan don’t worry because once you rinse your skin the scent is gone.
Finally, it’s time for my favorite step which is to apply the argan oil. The oil isn’t greasy at all and absorbs into the skin fast so that you can go ahead and get dressed immediately. Actually argan is my all time favorite oil and I like you use it to soften my hair, hands and body so if your skin took a hit this winter and needs some extra loving care I highly recommend it.
