I had fallen in love with an editorial image of the Ellis Faas Milk Lips lipstick in Blood Red (see above). In the picture it looked like a sophisticated deep red bordering on merlot. Since it’s my mission statement to get my husband to like a red lipstick on me I just had to try it.
Company Description- ‘A long-wear, fluid lipstick that provides highly-pigmented colour, and a glossy finish that lasts overtime. Superior comfort both in application and on the lips. Plumping actives improve hydration and smooth your lips. Especially loved by women who do not like to feel lipstick on their lips’.
Ellis Faas Milky Lips In Blood Red Review
I normally don’t discuss packaging in my reviews but in this case it’s a must. The lipstick comes in a tube and the color is released by twisting the bottom of it. There is a brush in one end but I don’t think that it’s not meant to be used for application. I tried out their brush multiple times and it was always a mess- sort of like the Batman’s Joker at his worst.
The fact is that applying the Ellis Faas Lipstick takes some doing. First you should apply a lip liner so that the end result will look cleaner. Then you have to dab a little bit of the lipstick onto your lips and blend it therefore creating a base. Finally you have to add more coat of lipstick to get the finished look. It takes just a minute or so but if you’re in a rush it may be inconvenient.
I found that one coat wasn’t enough to give me the rich red that I saw in the picture so I added more. After applying another coat I realized that the actual color is closer to the inner part of the lips on the image that I fell in love with than the outer lips. It’s a sort of shiny raspberry color that is affected by the curves of the lips as well as the light in the room. In other words it’s always changing so I found it to be playful, fun and sexy. Best of all the hubby approves. Hallelujah!
Another reason that I like the Ellis Faas Milky Lips lipstick is that it’s very moisturizing. It really worked to make my lips feel soft and hydrated. It also feels like a gloss when it’s first applied and just like a gloss it quickly starts to fade after one cup of coffee. However, it doesn’t just disappear. It actually works like a stain so that the color fades slowly and you have coverage for a couple of hours.
I would buy another Ellis Faas lipstick again, but this time I would be more careful about the color I choose. While this one turned out to be very pretty I prefer less of a surprise which is why I prefer to buy in a store than online. I’m so old fashioned.
