One of my favorite ways to pamper myself is to do an at home spa day where I cleanse, moisturize, steam, exfoliate, pick and obsess to my heart’s content. Over the last few months one of my favorite go to products to heal my dry skin is my coffee face scrub. Sure it makes you look like you’ve stuck your face in some wet sand but the results are phenomenal.

Homemade Coffee Face Scrub Recipes

These DIY coffee face scrubs are very easy to make and cost effective. Although you may be tempted to make a huge jar of one of these coffee scrubs for future use keep in mind that they are generally good for about five weeks.

The Original Coffee Face Scrub Recipe

  • 6 Tbsp. finely ground coffee
  • ¼ cup organic olive oil

Coffee Honey Face Scrub

  • 4 Tbsp. finely ground coffee
  • 1 Tbsp. organic olive oil
  • 1/3 Tbsp. organic honey

Coffee, Sugar and Cinnamon Face Scrub

  • 6 Tbsp. finely ground coffee
  • 6 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ cup organic olive oil

Regardless of which coffee face scrub you decide to use all you have to do is:

  • Mix the ingredients in a bowl
  • With your fingertips gently apply the mixture to your skin and make small circles (don’t use too much pressure or you can scratch yourself)
  • Relax for ten minutes
  • Wash off the mixture with lukewarm water.

Coffee Face Scrub Benefits

  • Coffee is packed with antioxidants so that it can really fight those free radicals that cause wrinkles, fine lines and age spots.
  • It has powerful anti-inflammatory properties and can help to reduce redness caused by rosacea and sensitivity.
  • Another benefit of using a coffee face scrub is that it really brightens the skin making it look more energergized and not so dull.

Your skin will glow. Enjoy!

I heard some people also recommend using your ground coffee leftovers as a body scrub for problem areas, apparently it really helps with cellulite. I wonder if it actually works :)

I’ve used coffee as a body scrub but didn’t know about the cellulite benefits. I’ll have to look into that, Thanks for the tip.

I have tried it as a body scrub, and it does seem to make a difference. I guess that is why so many firming lotions use caffeine as an ingredient.

Thank you for giving me another reason to have coffee in my house! I’ll have to try these scrubs. Question… Would they work as homemade gifts? Or do you think the coffee would break down to much?

They would make great homemade gifts but would last about a month or so. If you do give it to someone I recommend a small jar to begin with and let them know that it will last longer in the fridge.

I’ve heard of coffee beans for cellulite, but I’ve never heard of coffee being used as a face scrub before. Do you think it would aggravate acne or help? I struggle with constant breakouts.
