Sam Brocato has made a name for himself in the hair industry. He opened his first salon in 1976 in Louisiana, won several hair dresser of the year awards, opened a beauty academy and launched a hair care line in 2005. I was able to meet some of his staff at the Beauty Press event and they gave me the Supersilk line which was launched in 2012 to try and review.

Brocato Supersilk Reviews
I had gotten the keratin treatment four months prior to receiving the Supersilk treatment to review so I wasn’t sure what to expect. My hair was already straight and needed very little upkeep to look good. Just to be sure that I would be able to see results, I waited another month to try it out. By then the keratin would start to wear out and I would start seeing more frizz and less luster. In fact I would transform from a pretty, professional looking woman to a haggard swamp creature in a manner of days.
The Supersilk system contained 4 items: the Pure Indulgence Leave In System, Pure Indulgence Shampoo, Pure indulgence Conditioner and a Leave In Treatment Spray.
Pure Indulgence Leave In System
The Pure Indulgence Leave In System is meant to nourish your hair, reduce frizz, and lock in color. By the time December rolled around I found that my locks weren’t as smooth as they were before and I was getting a lot of frizz. The Leave In System definitely smoothed out the frizz so that I didn’t appear frazzled all the time. It also smells incredible which is a definite plus.
The Pure Indulgence Shampoo has a grapefruit scent which is a nice citrus fragrance to wake up to in the morning. The shampoo easily works into a lather and doesn’t leave behind any residue once rinsed.
The Pure indulgence Conditioner also has a grapefruit scent. My only issue with it is that because my hair is very long and thick I have to use a lot of it. If I don’t use a lot then the tangles don’t come out and brushing my hair becomes a painful task. When I do use enough however it takes out the tangles nicely and leaves my hair feeling silky.
The final step in getting the full experience of the Brocato Supersilk system is using the Leave In Treatment or the Leave-In Treatment Spray which are pretty much the same think but one is a spray andthe other has to be manually applied. If you have any frizz left over then this spray will put it to rest fast. It also helps to speed up drying time which is a huge help in this frigid NY weather. They’re each a great tool to have if you want your hair to look healthy.
The main reason that I wanted to try out the Brocato At Home Care was because once my keratin starts to fade my hair looks frizzy, as if it hasn’t been brushed for days. In fact, I look like I’ve crawled out from under a bush. Very sexy. The Brocato system really did work to make my keratin last a little bit longer it made my hair more manageable. My locks felt soft and looked healthy and I was able to save time on styling.
As mentioned above, the only issue is that I have to use a lot of conditioner to detangle my hair. The only way that I can figure to get around this is to buy two bottles which may be costly in the short run. If you look at the long run however, it’s still less expensive than getting another keratin treatment.
I also found that all of the Supersilk products are paraben free, sulfate free and cruelty free. That’s three more reasons that I would use them again in the future. In fact, I will be sure to stock up on it every fall so that once my hair starts looking scary again, I can tame it quickly.
