One of the most important tools that you have to have in order to apply your eye makeup in a professional manner is the right brush. You may think that all brushes are alike and may not understand why it’s important to purchase more than one brush or why it’s important to spend a couple of extra bucks to get a better quality makeup brush but the truth of the matter is that it does in fact make a huge difference. Crown is a popular brand that is well known among beauty professional and they offer a wide range of brushes, all of which have a different purpose. ifabbo just sent me their HD Brush Set to review.

Crown HD Brush Set Review
The Crown HD brush contains:
- 6 Professional makeup brushes
- 1 Tweezer
- 1 Carrying case containing a mirror
The set is available in white, purple and orange. I received the white color which is very pretty and helpful because it stands out in my makeup drawer. The brush handles replicate the case because they’re white but the tips of the brushes are a pretty powder blue color.
As I mentioned earlier there are six brushes in this set:
Powder Brush- This is the largest brush of the bunch. It should be used apply powder and foundation all over your face because it can cover a large area over a short period of time. Compared to other brushes, it’s not my favorite because it’s exceptionally soft and not as densely packed which means more strokes are needed to do the job.
Tapered Brush- A good tool for those of you who like to blend. It picked up the pigment nicely and did a good job at smoothly and evenly applying my bronzer.
Deluxe Contour Brush- This brush is helpful for contouring those hard to reach places. I like to use it to cover the dark circles under my eyes. While it sounds ridiculous, my circles are huge and go to the edges of my nose.
Chisel Shadow Brush- This brush is the flattest of the bunch and works nicely to distribute shadows evenly. It’s not the flatest chisel shadow brush that I’ve used before but I like that it’s a little puffier and find myself using it frequently.
Crease Blender- This brush is ideal for blending shadows and creating great smokey eye looks. It’s easy to use, picks up color nicely and applies evenly.
Detail Liner- This tiny brush is made for exact detailing however I prefer an even smaller detail brush. This one is a little too thick for me and will be difficult to use for anyone looking for precision.
I actually got a few new cream shadows that I tried out with these brushes and found that it was fairly easy to apply them. The brushes picked up the product and smoothed them out in a consistent manner without leaving behind streaks. My only issue was using the detail liner to apply eye liner. I prefer a more natural look and the detail liner simply was too thick. Perhaps it would work better to create a cat eye.
The brushes are all very soft which is ok if you’re blending but if you’re looking for precision then I prefer something a little stiffer. I also found that cleaning the Crown HD brushes was a little bit of a pain because the bristles kept coming out. If I’m going to spend some cash on a brush I want it to last for a while.
In addition to the brushes there’s a tweezer included in the Crown HD Brush Set. The most important thing that I look for in a tweezer is precision. Unfortunately the Crown tweezers sometimes pick up more hairs than intended which means that I have to put extra care into making sure that I don’t mess up my brows. They also hurt even though I take care to pull my skin and pluck the hairs in the right direction. As far as tweezers go, I still prefer my Tweezerman tweezers.
As far as the set goes, it is a good value for someone who is just learning how to work with makeup. Originally, it sold for $69.99 but was on sale for $27.95 and is now only $16.77. That’s the price of one really good brush! If you already have a handle on how to apply makeup then I would say skin this set. You can purchase this set as well as many other professional brushes on http://crownbrush.com/
Disclaimer- I got this set to review from ifabbo however the thoughts in this review are my own. My review is honest and completely unbiased.
