You work hard to keep your skin looking healthy so it can be very annoying to see blackheads pop up on your face. Whether, it’s because you’re prone to them, because you’re getting laser and electrolysis hair removal or have an adverse reaction to shaving or waxing it’s very well possible that you find yourself picking at the blackheads in order to dig them out continuously. Unfortunately, this can be very painful and damaging to your skin. Here are a few ways to remove blackheads safely and effectively.
Wash Up- When treating blackheads it’s always important to start with a clean palette so use a gentle oil free cleanser to wash your face. This step helps to remove any signs of dirt, residue or bacteria that may be on the surface of your skin.
Exfoliate- One of the simplest ways to get some of the blackheads out is by exfoliating. All you have to do is apply a small amount of your favorite exfoliant to your fingertips and gently making small circles all over your skin. Not only will some of the blackheads come out, but the dead skin that’s lingering about and making your skin look dull and dry will also be replaced with healthy looking skin.
Get Steaming- Once you’ve exfoliated, there may be a few blackheads that haven’t been removed. If this is the case and they still bother you then it’s time to get steaming. All you have to so is fill a pot with hot water and hold your head over it in order to soften the pores. After about ten minutes you should be ready for the next step.
And Squeeze- At this time, you will use your index fingers to gently squeeze out the blackheads. Be careful to not apply too much pressure or you can bruise or damage your skin.
Clean Up- Once you’re satisfied, then use a tissue or cotton ball to clean the area with some toner.
