It’s Joanna Crain here from Arcadian Home blog, a fabulous place to find lots of ideas for decorating with wall art and an array of lighting fixtures from beautiful mini pendant lights to grand chandeliers. I’m so happy to be with you here at Spontaneous Chick with a guest post about 2013 color trends.
To inspire you to bring color into your own interior spaces, I’ve pulled together eight images of rooms and vignettes that illustrate some of the color trends featured by the experts at Pantone and paint companies, Behr and Benjamin Moore. From soft coastal colors to a deep pink called Daah-ling, there’s a yummy hue for everyone. See what you think and I hope you enjoy my take on a few of this year’s color trends!
The walls in this pretty office are painted in Benjamin Moore’s 2013 color of the year Lemon Sorbet which is a part of the paint company’s Coastal color palette and one of its featured color trends of the year.
This modern living room blends three of Pantone’s color picks for 2013–Monaco Blue, Tender Shoots and Grayed Jade. These are all new takes on very old colors. The great zig-zag patterned pillows pull the colors in the room together very nicely. I love the unexpectedly tall contemporary lamps and the armless settee in pale green.
One of the colors in Behr’s Classic Caprice theme is the yummy traditional hue called Daah-ling. For me it evokes lovely memories of summer days on the porch with a bowl of raspberry sherbet.
Behr calls this palette Sweet Jazz. It’s reminiscent of the 1920′s. The soft blush pink is the Bee’s Knees, while the mint green is named Jazzy Jade—great names, appealing colors.
This retro living room uses parts of a combination of colors Pantone calls The Out of the Ordinary Palette. It’s said to have been created especially for those who aren’t afraid to experiment with color. These eye-catching hues have charming names like Rosebud, Golden Rod and Linden Green.
This close-up of a charming foyer vignette include three more of Pantone’s 2013 color choices, Lemon Zest, African Violet and Dusk Blue. It’s a lovely blending of hues that are just past pale and not quite bright. In other words, they’re just right.
This sophisticated kitchen is painted in colors from Benjamin Moore’s Urbanite, one of their 2013 color trends. Moonlight White, Polo Blue, Marblehead Gold and Kendall Charcoal are represented here. The gray cupboard looks great painted inside with the same pretty gold as the ceiling. The glass pendant light hung above the table is just right.
Pulled from Pantone’s Connoisseur Palette, the colors used in this Mid-Century style living room show how well Champagne Beige, Beechnut (green) and a lovely array of orchids and lilacs work together. This look is one of my favorites. Images 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8
