Own has taken skincare to an entirely new level. They’ve developed products that hold off on the harsh chemicals but still improve collagen levels and moisture so that your skin looks younger. When they first contacted me to review their products, they spend quite a bit of time telling me about how they individualize their products. As it turns out, the way that they do this is by combining clinically proven patented CLA formulations with technology. I had to try them out.
I started the process by taking a picture of myself with my iPhone. The system told me where my eyes, nose and mouth should go and the instructions told me about the kind of lighting I need to get the best possible feedback. A short while after I did this, I was told that I have some very fine lines on my forehead and let me tell you that a few months before my birthday I really wasn’t expecting the connect the dots image that they sent me. Good thing that they sent over the entire line.
Own Skincare Review
Rejuvenating Cleanser- There are cleansers that simply clean and then there cleansers that moisturize as well. The Own cleanser includes shea butter, safflower seed oil, jojoba seed oil all of which have major healing and moisturizing properties and are great for the winter months. I love the green tea fragrance that they’ve infused into this gentle cleanser. There wasn’t much lather when I applied it but it did wash off easily and it did remove any dirt particles or leftover makeup from my skin. Another plus is that it’s sulfate free so that’s another chemical that you don’t have to worry about when using this cleanser.
Firming Silk Concentrate- I applied three drops to my skin before I reached for my moisturizer and found that it absorbed quickly and left my skin feeling healthy and hydrated. I didn’t sense any heaviness or a greasy feeling which I can’t stand in my skincare- especially when I’m layering on a few products. Over time I found that my skin appeared to glow with energy which I contribute to this particular product.
Dual Protecting Day Lotion- The lotion contains SPF 30 which I love because that’s one less product that I have to apply to my face and neck. Other ingredients found in the lotion are barley extract which is good for skin reparation and safflower which has anti-aging properties. The soothing fragrance is derived from the sandalwood extract that is in the lotion. The lotion was easy to smooth out over my skin and was quickly absorbed. It kept my skin smooth throughout the better part of the day.
Lifting Eye Cream- The eye cream was the last product that I applied to my face. It feels very light on the skin and makes the under eye area appear to be brighter. Like the other products it’s packed with moisturizing ingredients which all act as anti-aging agents. Keeping in mind that I have dark circles under my eyes from the lack of sleep, the eye cream worked nicely in making me appear to be slightly more bushy tailed than I really am.
My favorite thing about Own Skincare is that I know what many of the ingredients that they use are and don’t have to look up ingredients such as hydrothisisbadforyou. I’ve found that I’ve been moving towards such products more and more since I’ve started blogging. In other words I agree with the folks over at own when they say that you don’t need junk in your products to see results (well, they put it in a much nicer way that I just did).
Would I use Own skincare again? Yes. The fine lines are still there but I like the moisture that it gives my skin. You can get more information about these and other Own products at http://www.ownproducts.com/. Don’t forget to upload the app first.
