You spend a better part of your day at work where you’re away from your friends and family. You do the majority of your socializing there and spend most of your energy there as well. That being said, shouldn’t you consider the best way to decorate your office so that you feel comfortable and inspired by it? Here are a few tips on how to decorate your office so that you can look forward to spending time in it.
Know Your Limits- How creative you get depends on the kind of work you do. If you’re in an artsy field, you can amp up your style and use bright colors, unusual furniture and display edgy artwork. If you work in a more subdued field then you’re going to have to hold back the reigns a little and walk on the conservative side.
Pick Your Theme- Just like your home, you have a large variety of themes to choose from when decorating the office. Depending on your taste you can consider modern, art deco, classical and other styles.
Meaningful Furniture- If you have the flexibility and the budget get furniture that entices you to go to work. Are you into Andy Warhol? Try getting a red couch and match it to a yellow table. If you like French decor pick up some antique like pieces in cream and French blue color stories. Remember, you want to bring out your inner self so that your office is a comfortable and welcoming place for you to be. It’s also a good way for others to see another side to you.
Add A Splash Of Color- Whether you choose to use modern decor or simply want to add color in order to make your office feel more vibrant, adding at least one bright color is always a good idea. If your furniture is mostly black, brown, grey or white, imagine how much pop an orange vase or turquoise candy bowl will add to the look of the place. Be sure to use this color in a few areas of the office so that it doesn’t look like it’s just been thrown in by accident and is out of place.
Hang Some Pictures- Photos help to inspire you and calm you down when things get hectic. If you’re up for something a little more interesting than the usual classic frames, try using removable wall decals which will dress up the office and provide a unique view of your memories.
Don’t Forget The Mirror- If your office space is on the small side or if you just want it to look bigger you can make it happen by hanging a mirror on the wall. If you put it somewhere where there’s a lot of sunlight, it will reflect the light and make the room brighter and larger looking still. It’s also a handy tool to have to give yourself the once over before heading into a meeting.
