Recently I had the opportunity to be treated to grape and oil facial therapy session at Skintology NYC. The main reason that I was so excited to try it out was because I had read that they like to emphasize the use of organic ingredients and I wanted to see how they went about it.

The Decor

The reception area at Skintology had a minimalistic decor. The reception area was white and filled with light. There were staff members right in the front to welcome you, a wall of products to the right and chairs and tables by the windows. There was also a table by the skincare products where you were able to get room temperature water with pieces of lemon in it which I find to be very refreshing. As it turns out all of the rooms at Skintology were minimalisticly decorated. By this I mean that in the laser room there was a chair and a couple of laser machines. In the facial room there was a chair, a bed, a cabinet and a sink. They only had what they needed to do their work in each room and no more. Personally, I prefer some color and pictures, but since my eyes were closed during ninety five percent of my time there, it doesn’t really make a difference.

The Staff

As soon as I walked in I was warmly greeted by the staff and handed a form to fill out. When I was done, they actually asked me if I had any questions and took the time to answer each and every one of them thoroughly. The esthetician herself was warm, kind, gentle and very knowledgeable. She took a few minutes to examine my skin and ask me questions and then she ran through the reasons that my skin would benefit from a grape and oil facial.

The Grape And Oil Therapy

Although I take great care of my skin, it’s taken quiet a beating this past year and become a little dry which is why this treatment was selected for me. The way that the Skintology catalogue describes this treatment is:

“Healing mud and protein-rich moisturizing butters help tighten and hydrate skin while organic clove oil and grape seed extract restore and detoxify tissue”.

It’s for people who have dull, dry skin and a session lasts for 60 minutes.

The treatment went as follows:

  1. Applied oxygen cleanser from Luzern Pure Cosmeticals to clean my face.
  2. Applied grape seed oil with night cream for a stimulating massage before a deep pore cleansing.
  3. Exfoliated with a deep hydrating scrub to remove oil from the face.
  4. Steamed the skin to make the pore deposits softer.
  5. Squeezed the pores for a deeper cleanse.
  6. Applied the Skintology spot treatment to tighten the pores.
  7. Used a paraphen mask to penetrate the pores and hydrate and tighten the skin.
  8. Applied a seaweed mask.
  9. Used the Luzern rosacea care serum (my cheeks have a touch of rosacea).
  10. Applied a collagen mask.
  11. Applied the Luzern pure oxygen cream and eye contour cream.

After the treatment my skin was positively radiant. My cheeks were a little less red and I looked energized and relaxed at the same time. I loved how the esthetician told me everything that she was doing as she went along so that I can understand why I was being given certain treatments. I also loved that while there are basic ingredients or steps in this treatment that make it what it is, there is also a level of flexibility that allows it to cater to the client’s needs. Best of all, my skin looked good for about a week after I visited Skintology.

I would definitely go to Skintology for another treatment again because the results that I saw were great. Their other treatments that interest me are:

  • Laser skin tightening
  • Laser skin resurfacing
  • Fruit soufflé ($130- $150)
  • Oxygen facial ($150)
  • 24 Karat gold facial ($380)
  • Absolut micro pearl ($380)
  • Chemical peels
  • Eyelash extensions
  • They also do smartlipo and botox.
