5 Fabulous Winter Nail Polish Trends For 2011- 2012

28 Nov

As the holidays approach the department stores get flooded with the latest items that we need to get the most out of the winter nail trends. You’ve already checked out the winter 2011 nail colors now let’s discuss the trends.

Metallic Colors- Shiny chromes, silvers and bronzes are still all the rage. But don’t stop there! Try the metallic versions of any of your favorite colors for a futuristic look that will bring edgy warmth to your style. Personally I love metallic burgundy for the holidays.

Sparkles- Give your nails a touch of bling by applying a coat of glittery polish. This winter you can choose from a solid glitter polish or one that has a combination of colors in it for a more festive look. You can even apply one coat of your favorite glitter polish over a solid color to jazz it up a little.

Bright French Manis- The classic French manicure is taking a new turn this season. You can give this old favorite a breath of life by skipping the traditional colors and applying a black base and a boldly colored stripe. Red, green, purple and blue are all strong colors so try one of them out.

Dark Colors- Black polish looks amazing on short nails but if you don’t want to go that dark then you can try a midnight blue or a royal purple. No matter what’s your skin tone you’re more than likely to find that dark colors will look great on you.

Pow Colors- Normally colors that are this bold are reserved for spring but this winter you can use them to warm up the atmosphere. We love bright oranges, reds and greens

Have a great winter and keep warm.

Oh, how I love, love, love dark polish. As a salon professional, I find it better to keep my nails short. (better for skincare treatments, less haircolor stains, etc.) Dark colors really do look great on the shorter lengths. But then there are those sparkles…

Great tip! I’ve been keeping my nails short too these days because long nails get in the way of typing.
