The 2011 fashion trends for women are geared towards the strong, independent woman who knows who she is and knows what she wants. She’s not afraid to stand out from the crowd and make a statement.
Menswear For Women
Designers such as Hermes, Chanel and D&G made menswear fashionable for women again. You can go completely butch and wear a suit that is not too tailored and in a dark color. Or you can go punk and wear a plaid jacket with a pair of brightly colored pants.
Fall 2011 Color Trends
As the weather gets colder the colors for the season usually get deeper and richer. However this fall designers have stepped away from this norm. Although most if not all designers are still showing clothing that are black, navy, winter white and dark purple, they are also showing bright yellows, orange, camel and lavender. Designers are using these bright colors as solids and as patterns.
You will see the usual wools and cottons for fall. However, to get the essential fall wardrobe you’re going to have to add some sheer fabrics, leather and feathers, fur (ok faux fur) to your closet. Fabrics that have lots of sheen are going to be big too. Now here’s something else that you’re going to need to do- mix it up! If you need inspiration take a look at what Zac Posen, Louis Vuitton and Gucci did. They took all kinds of fabrics and matched them up to create an outfit that will stop traffic.
Long Fall Skirts
Long skirts were supposed to be a hit this past summer, but it was pretty hard to find one in the retail stores. This fall more designers are taking another stab at it. Leading the pack with some beautiful styles are Carolina Herrera Moschino who are showing them skirts that go from calf lengths to sweeping floor lengths.
Punk Fashion Trends
Punk glam is shown by designers such as Balenciaga and D&G who have mixed fabrics, patterns and colors to create striking looks. To get the punk look incorporate some leather pants into your wardrobe and throw on a fitted shirt with a print on it. To finish the look spike your hair and apply some edgy makeup.
