Bloq UV makes UPF clothing perfect for exercising outdoors or or even just running errands. You may not realize it, but your skin does take in a lot of rays even if it’s covered while you’re in the sun. Bloq UV uses UPF 50 (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) material to make clothes that act like they have SPF 50 in them so that it blocks 98% of the sun’s rays and your skin is at its safest when your outdoors. They have also added more protection by elongating the sleeves for extra hand protection in their women’s shirts.
Other features include flat seams so that the fabric lays nicely on your body and functional pockets so you have a place to stash your phone and iPod. There is one important thing missing however. There are no chemicals added for UV protection which is great considering that the average woman’s body absorbs about 5 pounds of chemicals from makeup alone every year.
Still not sure why you should look into UPF clothing? Check out these facts:
- Skin cancer is the most common type of cancers in the US today.
- Melanoma represents only 4% of skin cancer in the US today, but 75% of skin cancer deaths are attributed to it.
- About 70% of Americans do not use proper skin care to protect themselves from the sun.
I wore the shirt to the gym over the weekend and found that I loved it. The fabric was soft against my skin and was light enough so that my skin could breathe freely. During my workout I didn’t get the urge to pull up my sleeves because I felt uncomfortable and after my workout my skin still felt comfortable enough that it could breathe freely. All in all, a comfortable workout.
