Can you believe that the fall 2011 nail polish trends are out already? It’s a little hard for me to grasp because we’re in mid-July and the air is heavy with humidity. However, the trends are here and you’ll be happy to know that the summer trends that you love will still be around in the fall.
Updated French Manicures- Designers such as Phillip Lim and Jason Wu breathed some life into the classic French manicure. Rather than draw the traditional white line across the tip of the nail, they used metallic colors to draw the lines at an angle, going from the middle corner of the nail down to the tip.
Moons- Another version of the French manicure that is going to be popular in the fall is the half moon. The spring 2011 trend suggested that we paint the crescents in black and while this look is still a good one for fall, try taking it one step further by painting them silver or gold.
Basic Nudes- Nude colored nail polish is still very much in style for fall, however, if you’re going to wear a nude polish be sure to select a color that is at least two shades darker than your skin color. This way your polish will stand out and your fingers won’t look abnormally long. To take this trend one step further, try doing a French manicure with a nude base color and black tips.
Metallic Colors- These continue to be strong for fall, except now you have even more choices to pick from. Try a metallic green or if you want a color that’s still edgy but a little more subdued go for a metallic quartz.
Bright Colors- Just because summer is over it doesn’t mean that you can’t wear brightly colored nail polish. Shades of coral and hot pink are both still very much in style for fall.
Sparkles- Yes, sparkles are still in style and it’s a good thing too because they add so much fun and personality to any polish color.
