5 Tips On Taming Frizzy Hair

11 Jul

If you’re living in a warm climate and have to deal with humidity and frizzy hair on a daily basis you may look like you’ve stuck your finger in an electrical outlet for a few minutes. Since frizz isn’t a great look on anyone, here are a few tips on taming frizzy hair.

Go Long- Many people think  that if they chop off their locks their hair won’t frizz. However, this is completely untrue. In fact, you hair is more likely to frizz when it’s short so keep that hair long.
Moisturize- One of the main causes of frizzy hair is the lack of moisture so use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner that will nourish your hair. Keep in mind that washing your hair too often can strip your hair of its natural oils so you should wash it twice a week at the most. If you have the time and want to get some extra moisture, use a weekly hair mask that will leave your hair smooth and shiny.

Get Natural- Chemicals are another cause of frizzy hair so ease up on any chemical treatments that you do to your hair, including perms and coloring. You should also try to use a natural shampoo or a shampoo that has very few chemicals because it will help to tame frizzy hair.

Air Dry- While you may want to use a blow dryer to style your hair, the best way to dry is naturally. If you’re set on straightening your hair you should let your hair air dry, then once it’s almost completely dry blow it out with a hair dryer and then use a  flat iron to straighten it. Using appliances on your hair every day is horrible for your hair and can make your hair look dry, brittle and extremely fried so don’t use it more than twice a week.

Use Oils- Natural oils such as argan oil are better than many other beauty products made to reduce frizz because they’re natural so they don’t contain any chemicals which dry out or damage your hair. Also when using a natural oil on your hair you’ll find that a few drops is all you need to get really great results.

In a nutshell, the products that you use on your hair play a big part in taming frizz. For example, if you’re planning to use a flat iron on your hair, it’s a good idea to use one that is coated with ceramic and an even better idea to use one that has silicone padding to protect you from the heat. Personally, I like the Ferrum Iron. I hope that you have a great summer filled with frizz free hair days!

I have a hard time leaving my hair down. I’m so used to putting it back so that it won’t be in my face.
